Weekly Devotion: November 22, 2020

My Dear Friend,

It is my sincere prayer that you will not allow suggestions of fear to rule your daily life. The Word of God is your daily answer.

Love in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Mark

“Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Hebrews 2:14-15

In the midst of today’s dangers, of course, we need to be careful. But do we need to live each day in fear of the prospect of sickness and death? The Word of God says, “NO, we do not.” The Word of God calls such fear, “bondage,” and many are now living “all their lifetime” in these chains.

The true religion of Jesus Christ says, “Do not live your daily life in fear.”
The true Church of the living God says, “Do not live your daily life in fear.”
The Truth found in the Word of God says, “Do not live your daily life in fear.”
A righteous Christian preacher encourages, “Do not live your daily life in fear.”

But all of these – the true religion of Jesus Christ, the true Church of the living God, the Truth found in the Word of God, and the encouragement of righteous Christian preachers – are being systematically replaced. Instead,

The new “religion” is one’s political view, and it suggests, “Live your daily life in fear.”
The new “church” at which people regularly worship is a video screen, and it suggests, “Live your daily life in fear.”
The new “word of god” is the slanted news report, and it suggests, “Live your daily life in fear.”
And, the new “preacher” to be heeded is the news anchorman or anchorwoman, and they express or imply, “Live your daily life in fear.”

It seems that fear is the order of the day because it is an advantage for some to keep the rest of us living our daily lives in fear.

But Jesus, speaks to you saying,

Matthew 6:33-34: “Therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your life…But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

May you be free of the chains of fear, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
